Joszef “Joe” Csizmadia, 78, of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 11th, 2026 at the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital in Tampa, Florida. He was surrounded by family and friends in the last days of his life.
Joe was born in Bodajk, Hungary to Terez and Jozsef Czismadia in 1947. He came to the U.S. with his late parents and beloved sister, Theresa, in 1956. Joe was a proud United States Army Veteran, serving three tours in Vietnam between 1967 and 1970, working as a helicopter technician on the front lines. Through his service to our country, he made plenty of friends over cold beers at various VFW posts around the Bay Area.
When he was a resident of Land O’ Lakes, FL, Joe coached youth soccer, sharing his love for the sport with those around him. He loved playing cards with his sister and brother-in-law, reminiscing on moments spent together. Joe cherished his many trips to Hawaii where he shared relaxing time with friends and family.
He is survived by his great-aunt, Maria Fabian; sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Istvan Santa; niece and nephew Zsuzsanna and Andrew McGovern; great-niece and nephew, Meaghan and Matthew McGovern; stepson and daughter-in-law, Scot and Sue Davenport; stepdaughter and son-in-law Sherry and Chris Plummer; three grandchildren, Randy, Brandon, and Devyn; and six great-grandchildren as well as extended family in Hawaii and New York State—all of whom he loved dearly.
Joe and his family received an endearing ‘final salute’ from employees and fellow veterans of the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital following his passing.
Joszef Csizmadia will be laid to rest in Bushnell. Further details to follow.
