

Born on July 19th, 1938 in New York, NY to Edward F. Gordon and Katherine M. (Lillis) Gordon, Kathleen spent her youth in the Inwood section of Manhattan where she met her husband of 68 years, Edward H. Flood, Jr.
The couple married on April 12th, 1958, at Church of the Good Shepherd, NY, NY and have been virtually inseparable ever since and called each other Hon.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her father, Edward Francis Gordon; her mother, Katherine "Kay" Marie (Lillis) Gordon; and her brother, Peter Gordon.
Kathleen graduated from Mother Cabrini High School in New York City, and became the beloved High School Receptionist At Chester High School (CHS) in 1970, in Chester, NY after she and her husband moved out of the city to raise their 6 children in Chester. Kathy served CHS for 15 years and was considered a second mother to many CHS students.
While in Chester, she was a Girl Scout leader for many years and even tried her hand at coaching softball.
Upon moving to Spring Hill in 1986, she continued her career as an Administrator in a medical office in Dade City until her retirement.
Kathy loved music, especially Irish music. She also had a great love of the outdoors which included tent camping, birdwatching, and hiking throughout the Northeast, which continued into her late 70s. She especially loved Rhode Island and Block Island. She was also a lover of sports - particularly the NY Rangers, Giants and Mets. Over the years, Kathy also loved to attend the high school and college games of her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing golf and was a regular on the Heather.
Favorite activities over the past many years included annual girls trips with her daughters, visiting such places as Aruba, Bahamas, Cabo and Long Boat Key and travelling back to the Northeast to attend family events. She also loved gathering with their friends for Wednesday night dinners at La Bella Napoli.
Kathy was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Roman Catholic Church in Spring Hill and had a special love for the Blessed Mother.
Kathy leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Edward Harold Flood; her children, Kathleen A. D’arcy (Bobby), Kevin M. Flood (Colleen), Eileen P. McMahon (Francis), Thomas E. Flood (Kimberly), Jean Ann Fitzsimonds (Shawn), and Vincent B. Flood (Jane); 11 grandchildren (Nicholas, Robbie, Vincent, James, Dylan, Aaron, Shawn Patrick, Casey, Brendan, Ciara and Joseph), 4 great-grandchildren; her sister, Carol Ann Cavanagh; her brother, Edward Gordon; along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on August 12th at 11 am at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church, Spring Hill.
A Funeral Mass will also take place on August 22nd at 10 am at Church of the Transfiguration, Tarrytown, NY followed by Interment at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
In Lieu of flowers, donations in her name to the St. Frances Cabrini Capital Fund would be welcomed.
