
Dennis was born in Irvington, NJ on May 23, 1942 to Knevin W. and Beatrice Pilley. Dennis married Sandra Russell in Caldwell, NJ on June 25, 1972.
Dennis was in the first graduating class of New Providence High School in 1960 and went on to attend Seton Hall University. He was a New Providence, NJ. Resident for 70 years before moving to Brooksville, Fl. He joined NPFD in November 1963, retiring in 1990 and was a member of New Providence Volunteer Fire Department for 27 years. Dennis also served two years in the United States Army from 1966-1968 and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a NP PAL Football announcer for 5 years, a New Providence H.S. wrestling announcer for 10 years and a school crossing guard for 25 year in New Providence. He was also an independent contractor for Newark Star Ledger for 21 ½ years. Dennis enjoyed Seton Hall basketball, Notre Dame Football, New York Mets, scratch off lottery tickets, reading any books about history, his grandson’s choir and band concerts, his beagle “Lucky” sitting on his lap, Jeopardy, and finding the mute button on any remote control that drove his family crazy.
Dennis was predeceased by, his father Knevin W. Pilley, his mother Beatrice Pilley and his cousin Joanne Pilley.
He is survived by, his spouse of 52 years Sandra Pilley, his sons Knevin John Pilley and Douglass Arthur Pilley, his grandson Knevin Cole Pilley, his cherished sister Betty Emslie and brother-in-law William Emslie. He is also survived by his niece Tracy Allen, husband Kirk Allen and their daughter Maddie Allen, his cousin Robert Pilley, and his sisters-in-law Lynn Cournoyer and Virginia Thompson.
