Mabel F. Ellam

Mabel F. Ellam of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away on December 23, 2019, at the precious age of 94 and three quarters. She came into this world on March 11, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois. She was a resident of Spring Hill, Florida for 31 years coming from Schaumburg, Illinois.

Mabel retired as a Secretary from the Board of Education in the greater Chicago area. She was a lover of intricate puzzles, a good game of cards, and an avid collector of Hummingbird collectibles and Bulldog figurines. She was a devout Christian and a Member of the Spring Hill United Church of Christ and the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ in Frederick, MD. Mabel now joins her late husband, Howard C. Ellam, who passed away in April 2012. They enjoyed 65 years of loving marriage and quiet retirement as residents of Spring Hill for almost 30 years. Her laughter and joy for all living things around her, will be sorely missed.

Mabel is survived by her daughter Gail K. Ellam, Frederick, MD (who was also her care giver since 2013); son Roger Ellam (Partner Elizabeth Collins), Naperville, IL; grandson Jesse T. Overton (Shadia Hafiz), Alexandria, VA; grandson Bryant Ellam (Laura), Grand Rapids, MI; granddaughter Kelly Ellam (Fiance’ Ryan Lippert), Yorkville, IL; grandson Michael Ellam, Oswego, IL; grandson Drew Ellam, Naperville, IL; granddaughter Nicolette Ellam, Oswego, IL; and great-grandchildren Grace Ellam, Grant Ellam, and Lailani Overton. And special friends Shirley and Ray LeBeau of Crystal Lake, IL; and Bill Gieselman of Spring Hill, FL.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Turner Funeral Home, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
