
She was the widow of the late Donald Staples.
She served God well over 50 years through bible reading, church participation and supporting missions.
Before retiring to Florida, she was a long-time resident, born in Staten Island, NY. While living in New York, she graduated from McKee High School, was married to the late Donald Staples and became the mother of 5 Children: Donald Staples Jr., Lori Staples, Danita Staples Lisa Staples-Ramcharan and Donna Staples (predeceased). She was also the grandmother of 8 grandchildren: Tabitha, Clifton, Sommer, Nicole, Whitney, Alfredo, Victor and Jessica and the great grandmother of 7 great grandchildren: Averi, Ian, Quinn, Ja-ni, Skyla, Jackson and Natalia.
Outside of the home, she was a dedicated worker serving as a public health dietitian, in food service and retail.
She enjoyed church, working, family vacations, sewing and gardening. Although she prepared most meals at home, she also looked forward to going out to lunch with friends.
Highlights in her life include international trips where she traveled to South Africa and Israel on a Holy Land Tour returning with mementos and fond long-lasting memories.
She became keeper of the home after retiring to the Spring Hill/Brooksville area of Florida with her late husband. They enjoyed traveling within the states together and she later became his caregiver. She looked forward to family visits arriving from out of town and enjoyed taking her grandchildren around to various places and sites in Florida.
Florida became her second home as she immediately found community in several long-lasting supportive friendships that sustained and blessed her to the end.
She will be missed dearly by family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 12pm on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A reception will follow at Turner Funeral Home.
