“Mr. Fred you will have to make arrangements to bury this one, she is not making a sound or even breathing. ”Those were the words from the midwife that welcomed Maisie Elgitha Williamson at her birth on May 14, 1931. However, her Christian parents Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Williamson prayed for God's intervention and loving care, and she survived. As a child she overcame childhood illness and as a teenager expressed a desire to go traveling to other countries. Her parents discouraged her traveling plans. Maisie however defied her parental counseling left home at age 18 went to London England. The change to the new country brought many positives for Maisie. She finished her studies and obtained a supervisory position in the police department in London. She spent her vacations and weekends traveling the European Countries. Maisie met and married Cecil Powell in October 1958. God blessed them with two children Hubert and Brian.
After several years in England she and her sons migrated to the United States so she could be closer to her siblings who were living and working in New York City. She quickly found herself a job in the banking world. Her love for traveling continued cruising annually to the Caribbean and Central America. Maisie retired and moved to Jamaica for a short period. She was a kind hearted and generous person always helping others. She opened her home to Mimrose and Jason, returned to the United States and settled in Spring Hill Florida. She became a member of Hernando Mission Seventh-Day Adventist church.
Unfortunately in 2015 her health started to decline but she never complained, she was very positive that God would restore her so she could continue her travels, watch her great grandchildren grow up.
Maisie passed away suddenly on Monday February 18, 2019, she leaves to mourn her two sons, Hubert Powell, Brian Powell, grandson Adrian Powell, great grandchildren Israel and Robin Powell, sister Shirley Palmer, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
