Maria “Maezinha” de Oliveira, 95, of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025. Born on September 27, 1930, in Porto, Portugal, Maezinha lived a long and beautiful life defined by love, resilience, and devotion to her family.
Maezinha married the love of her life, Adelino de Oliveira, in January 1950, and together they built a family rooted in strength, warmth, and tradition. She raised her children in Brazil, where she proudly owned and managed her own clothing store before later dedicating herself fully to being a homemaker. In 1979, she moved to the United States, and in 2007 she settled in Florida, where she spent her remaining years surrounded by those she cherished most.
A woman of quiet strength and boundless generosity, Maezinha was the heart and matriarch of her family. She was strong, successful, independent, hardworking, and endlessly nurturing. She cared for all children—whether family or neighborhood kids—as if they were her own. Despite any language barriers, she befriended everyone she met with her kindness, laughter, and warm, welcoming spirit.
Maezinha found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cooking and baking for loved ones, tending to her garden, taking peaceful walks around her neighborhood, and trying her luck at the casino slots. One of her most beloved pastimes was enjoying fruit of any kind, which she could never resist—especially while watching the children play, a moment that always brought the brightest smile to her face.
She is survived by her children Mary (Fernando) Francisco, Maria Fernanda (Antonio) de Oliveira, and Antonio de Oliveira; her grandchildren Sergio Francisco, Sandy Francisco, Marlene de Oliveira, Michelle (Sergio) Tavares, Andreina (Brayden) Ballard, Cynthia (Andrew) Cordeiro, and Bianca de Oliveira; and her great-grandchildren Darren Francisco, Chantel Francisco, Daeja Lopes, Julian Lopes, Jasmine Tavares, Madison Tavares, Jonathan Tavares, Arianah Haynes, Juliette Ballard, Kylie Lucerna, Amiyah de Oliveira, and Addilyn Soto.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Adelino, her siblings Alexandre, Rosa, and Deolinda, and her parents Joaquim and Ermelinda.
Maezinha’s presence was a gift. She was always smiling, always laughing, and always embracing the beauty of every moment. Her love—steady, unconditional, and full of joy—will forever remain at the center of her family’s hearts.
