Marion Earle Brodeth was born November 7, 1918 in Philadelphia, PA. She passed away at the age of 100 on Friday 19, 2019. She was a longtime resident of Wesleyan Village and a member of the Brooksville Wesleyan Church.
Because of difficult home situations, her older brother, Frank, went to work to help support Marion and her 2 sisters when they were young. After completing junior high, she quit school and worked wherever she could find jobs. One job was putting seams in ladies’ stockings. She also worked in a fountain pen factory and a jewelry factory.
Marion married Fidel Brodeth in 1051. His nickname was Brodie, the name he was always known by. After serving in the Army in World War II, he served in the Merchant Marines until retirement. They moved to Brooksville, FL in 1979. Brodie died in 1991. Marion had taken 4 years of piano lessons. That, plus her natural talent provided her the ability to play in several churches and nursing homes. She moved into the Village in 2000 where she continued to live even though she was losing her eyesight. Although she became legally blind, she was highly organized and knew where everything was. (She made sure her friends put everything in the right place!!) She had good friends throughout the years and since she had no children of her own, became very interested in their families. She was an independent energetic lady who loved music and could remember the words of many songs, and took the liberty to change them if she wanted. At her 90th birthday party she danced and sang---“I Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby, Cause Baby,--Look At Me Now!” She also sang at her 100th party. She stayed in her own home until a little over a year ago when she moved into private home care. Although her physical eyesight failed, she often expressed her faith and trust in the Lord to see her through every day. She trusted these words: “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” Psalm 32:8
Memorial service will be 10AM Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the Brooksville Wesleyan Church 22319 Cortez Blvd. Brooksville, FL. 34601.
