Marty was born on March 5, 1952, in Brooklyn, New York to parents Dorothy and Martin Monaghan. He married Claudia Ruscillo on March 11, 1979, in St. Jude Church.
In his life with Claudia, Marty shared a deep and passionate love—love at first sight, as two peas in a pod. Together they enjoyed time in parks and short vacations. He was the anchor of his family, a constant source of strength and reassurance.
Marty spent 25 years with the New York Fire Department, ultimately serving as a captain. His commitment to protecting others reflected a devoted spirit—reliable, steadfast, and deeply grounded in service.
Outside of the firehouse, Marty was known for being handy and for showing up immediately when someone needed him. He also found joy in the outdoors, with a passion for fishing and hunting. Above all, he was a loving and caring grandfather who made time for his grandchildren and gave them the kind of attention that becomes a lasting gift.
Marty is preceded in passing by his parents, Dorothy and Martin Managhan.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Claudia Monaghan; his son, Marty; daughter-in-law, Rachel; granddaughters, Raelyn and Amberlyn; grandsons, Evan and Dylan; sisters, Dorothy and Kathy; and brother, Robert.
Visitation will be held at Turner Funeral Home (14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609) on September 18, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 PM, where the service will begin at 6:00 PM and end around 7:00 PM.
