Maurice D. Hernandez was born on January 14, 1921 and passed away peacefully on April 30, 2017. He was 96. Maurice was born in Stonington, Connecticut, raised in the Azores and lived and worked in Waterbury, Connecticut. He is a WW II veteran,, and a Gold Member of the VFW Post #201. He was a Master Barber for 40 years and was the owner of Maurice’s Barber Shop on Baldwin Street in Waterbury. He relocated and enjoyed his retirement in Brooksville, Florida with his wife, Grace, in 1981 where they golfed daily. He served his church, St Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, for 32 years as an usher and then as Captain of the 4 o’clock mass. Maurice is survived by his daughter, Beatrice Palls, his sons, Maurice, Jr., Steven, his daughter-in-law, Charlene, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. May his memory be eternal! There will be a visitation at Turner Funeral Homes, 14360 Spring Hill Drive on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 9-10AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at St Frances Cabrini Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. Mr. Hernandez will be laid to rest following the mass at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow.
