

Max was born in Columbus, Ohio on September 5, 1943 to Max E. Gabbard Sr. and Ruby (Kinney) Gabbard. He grew up in West Virginia and graduated from Logan High School in 1962. Max enlisted and was a Machinist's Mate in the U.S. Navy. He served in the A division aboard the USS Los Angeles. He was honorably discharged from military service in 1965.
Max loved cars and people. He never met a stranger. He was co-owner of Gabbard Cars, Inc. in Seville Ohio and he loved to drag race the cars he built and maintained with his many racing friends, his sons, and family. Max also was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church and loved to tell everyone about his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Max married the love of his life, Kathyrn (Tackett) Gabbard on December 7, 1962 and they had three children together of whom he was very proud, Max E. Gabbard III (who preceded him in death), Chris (Angela) Gabbard of Mesa, Arizona, and Joy (Matt) Blough of Creston, Ohio. He also adored his grandchildren, Max E. Gabbard IV, Christian Gabbard, Maliya Gabbard, Alivia Gabbard, Cruz Gabbard, Samara Blough, Cooper Blough, and Collin (Sydney) Stevic.
A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held from 6:00-7:00pm, Friday, March 8, 2024 in the chapel of Spring Hill Baptist Church, 3140 Mariner Blvd, Spring Hill, FL 34609, with Reverend Jim McComas officiating.
There will be a Military Funeral at the National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio later this summer. The family will release these details as they become available.
