Maxine Stimler, age 94, was promoted to the Church Triumph on April 23, 2019. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Richard W. Stimler, son Gary Stimler, son-in-law Lewis Lee Brewer, parents Clara and Alfred Geurts Sr., brother Alfred Geurts (Bud) Jr., in-laws, George and Cora Stimler, and three brother-in-laws on the Stimler side. Her companion and the unconditional love she received from her dog Sadie helped brighten her days until April of 2018 when Sadie died.
She is survived by her daughters Deborah Brewer (Berry) of Spring Hill, FL and Sandra Stimler, of Hammond, Indiana. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She also has a surviving brother-in-law, Donald Stimler (Pat) of Cowgill, IL and surviving sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Betty) Geurts of Hammond, IN.
Mrs. Stimler has been a resident of Spring Hill, FL since 1985. She was a member of First United Methodist church of Spring Hill. She wore several hats and held several jobs during her lifetime which include short-order cook for the South Shore Line in Hammond, IN; seamstress at Manhattan Shirt Company, JC Penny in Hammond, IN and managed the luggage department at Carson Pirie Scott, where she retired from, once in Florida she worked for Publix as a product demonstrator. On the social side she was a second vice president and color barrier for the Calumet American Legion Post 330, was a Girl Scout Leader for her daughters, taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church in Hammond and held several offices in the Indiana Club founded in Florida.
