

Michael Callaghan, age 82, of Spring Hill, FL., died at the Hernando Pasco Hospice Care Center in Brooksville, FL., on Friday, November 21, 2014. Born on December 5, 1931, in Philadelphia, PA., Mike moved to Spring Hill in 1991, from Northeast Philadelphia. Michael was the owner of the Callaghan Marble Shop in Philadelphia, PA. and he later worked for the Ferag Machinery Company, in Levittown, PA. Michael was a veteran of the US Army serving active duty in Korea from 1952-1954, and was a reservist until 1960. Mike was a life member of the VFW Spring Hill Post # 10209, in Spring Hill, FL., and as a member from 1992 to present; he also served as the long time Honor Guard Captain. Michael was Catholic and a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Michael is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Sophie Callaghan, and by his daughter, Cynthia Callaghan. Michael is survived by his loving daughter, Andrea J. Hennessey and her husband John Dziegielewski, of Spring Hill, FL. Along with his membership at the church and the VFW Post, Mike was also a life member of the Hernando Sportsman’s Club, Brooksville, FL, serving as a Trustee on the Board of Directors and a NRA Instructor. A Memorial Gathering will be held at the VFW Post Spring Hill #10209, on December 8, 2014 at 11:30 AM with lunch to follow. The Memorial Service and Military Honors will be performed by the Honor Guard of VFW Post 10209. Mike will be laid to rest with his beloved Sophie, at the Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell, FL., at a later date.
