Nancy Smart, nee Lubig, married John Smart on June 3rd, 1961 in Livonia, Michigan, where they raised four children, Robert, Richard, Julie, and Daniel. In 1976, she and her family moved to Dunedin, Florida, seeking better weather and employment prospects. In Dunedin, she worked for Smith Barney as a financial professional. She later co-founded the company LBS Capital Management, which, in 1993, was listed in Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest growing companies in America. She sold her ownership in LBS Capital Management in 1997 and she and John retired, moving to Weeki Wachi, Florida. In retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family, following the stock market, reading books, watching cooking shows, and lolling by the pool.
Nancy Smart is survived by her children Robert (Delma) Smart, Richard Smart (Michelle), Julie Wert, and Daniel (Heidi) Smart, her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her brother, Gerald Lubig, and two sisters, Patricia Salvatori and Carol DiPonio. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Smart, who passed away on September 8, 2022.
A private family gathering will be held for family members at a date to be arranged.
We will miss her dearly.
