Phillip Martino, age 91, passed away on May 12, 2026. He was a resident of Spring Hill, Florida. Born in Plainfield, NJ on July 08, 1934, Phillip’s life was marked by steady devotion to duty, community, and those he loved most.
Phillip served in the United States Marine Corp as a Private First Class. He later worked as a firefighter for the Plainfield, NJ Fire Department, rising through the ranks to retire as Chief in 1983—an enduring reflection of a life spent in service and of the deep respect he earned along the way.
On September 26, 1953, Phillip married the love of his life Ruth M. La Fleur.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years Ruth Martino; his three children Liberino, Mary, and Phillip Jr.; his seven grandchildren Holly, Melissa, Hillary, Nicholas, Heather, Sarah and Christine; and his five great-grandchildren Matthew, Madisyn, Mia, Harper and Eliza.
Phillip was beloved, and that love was returned in full—most clearly in the pride he took in his family and in the simple joys he held close. He had a passion for baseball, football and his family, and those who knew him will remember the quiet strength and steadfast presence he brought to every season of life.
