Ray was married to Martha on November 10, 2006. He served with dedication in the US Navy for 24 years, retiring as Chief Warrant Officer CW03. Throughout his life, Ray carried a steady sense of duty and a deep respect for the bonds formed in service—always grateful for the friendships he shared with his Navy brothers and glad to hear from them.
A man of patient skill and thoughtful curiosity, Ray found real joy in making and understanding. He had a passion for wood crafting, especially model ships, and he loved tinkering with electronics. He was known for wanting to know how and why things worked, often asking, simply and sincerely, “why?” Just as meaningful to him was time spent with those he loved most—family and friends who were at the center of his days.
Ray was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Sims; father, Raymond Ferraro; mother, Rosalie Pinto; stepfather, Raymond Pinto; sisters, Cathy Birk and Theresa Ferraro; paternal grandparents, Ray and Edna Ferraro; maternal grandparents, Mary and Paul Smith; and nephew, Michael Stephen.
