He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Rose (Bankovich) Skalka, children Jacqueline Woodin of Beacon Falls CT, Richard Skalka Jr of Pawleys Island SC, brother Kenneth Skalka of Indianapolis IN, and 2 grandsons who he loved dearly, Joshua and Jason Woodin both of Naugatuck CT. Dick was predeceased by his parents Paul and Helen Skalka and sister Linda Skalka all of Beaver PA.
Dick was a former US Marine who served his country honorably in the late 1950s. He was an excellent athlete in every sport that he participated in with a particular love for baseball. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and watched them faithfully every season. Dick’s life was a life well lived, spending his early life in Beaver PA, moving to Connecticut in the early 1970s and eventually settling in FL where he and Rose lived for over 20 years. He will be deeply missed by all of his high school friends who still soldier on, his golf buddies and especially his family.
