Sondra Keenan, better known as Sandi, Mom or Grandma, has passed away on August 22nd. She was adored for her quick wit, sense of humor, charming personality and a smile that could replace any light in the room. Recently widowed, Sandi is survived by her 5 children, Lynn, Randy, Allen, Christine, and Keith and her 4 Grandchildren, Matthew, Jonathan, Trevor and Peter and her sister Miki.
Born in Manhattan December 11th, 1934, Sandi lived at 410 E. 4th st till she was nine years old with her grandparent until she would eventually cross the the bridge to Brooklyn, where she would spend the rest of her adolescence raising her younger sister, Miki.
Sandi was such a beautiful woman but she was also blue collar cut, tough and came with a ton of grit. She was no nonsense and if she had something to say, you were going to hear it regardless if you were ready for that kind of honesty or not. Sandi never went to college, but she owned a couple business in her lifetime and was very successful in her adult years.
Sandi was a very fun woman and a very proud woman. Not only was she a gracious cocktail host and a wonderful homemaker, she was a business woman with a sharp tongue. Sandi, a member of both Brooklyn club and Hadasah, she was very proud of her NY roots and her Jewish heritage. Her favorite foods were Chinese spare ribs and chocolate milk shakes. She loved golf, she won many tournaments and even had three hole in ones in her amateur career. Sandi was not only an avid golfer but she was a serious Mah Jong and Conasta player as well. Sandi loved life and she lived it well. She did what she wanted, when she wanted, however she wanted and did it well, she never wanted much more than peace, good health and a couple laughs. She was easy to get along with and easy to please, she kept an open mind and a cool temper, she never sweated the small stuff and always spoke of love as a relationship most important with yourself, doing what makes you happy and doing what makes you successful. Sandi is famous for saying "The most important person you have to love is yourself, because you're the only person you have to live with your entire life." Sandi had chosen to be cremated and there will be two services celebrating Sandi's life, one in Timber Pines, Spring Hill FL for a date yet to be determined as well a final service in Long Island, NY, where her ashes will be released into the ocean.
