October 10th, 1967 - September 22nd, 2026
With profound sadness and immeasurable love, we announce the passing of Theresa Ann Neumann, a beautiful soul who was, in so many ways, the heart and center of our family.
She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, but even that long list of titles cannot begin to describe who she was or what she meant to the people fortunate enough to love her and have her in their lives.
She was preceded in death by her father David Noel Smith.
She is survived by her husband William Neumann, sons Richard Cicerone and Steven Neumann, daughters Kariana Cicerone, Juliana Neumann and Kimberly Serig, Grandchildren Angela Watts and Trey Tipping, Mother Carol Smith, sisters Joanne Baker and Cathy Smith, brother David Smith Jr, many nephews, a niece, and countless others who were blessed to call her family.
Our family is large, with different branches, generations, relationships, and chapters that came together over the course of her life.
Throughout her life, she built a family that extended far beyond biology, marriage, or traditional definitions. She understood that family was not determined solely by blood or by a last name. It was created through love, loyalty, presence, and the decision to continue showing up for one another.
She was our constant.
Her life included different chapters and a beautifully blended family. Each chapter brought people into her life whom she loved deeply and who became part of the extraordinary family surrounding her.
Later in life, she found an extraordinary love with William Neumann, her husband, her best friend, her partner, her soul mate and her home. What they shared was the kind of love people hope to find once in a lifetime: a love built not only in the beautiful moments, but in the ordinary days, the hard days, and the moments when simply holding on to one another was enough. A love built from trust, passion, and faith.
They walked through life side by side, and when life became unimaginably difficult, he remained exactly where he had always been, beside her. Loving her. Caring for her. Fighting with her. Holding her hand through the moments no one should ever have to face. Upholding his vows to her, in sickness and in health.
To him, she was never simply his wife. She was the love of his life. She was the love of a lifetime. She was the person he chose, and who chose him. The person with whom he built a life, made a home, shared his days, and imagined all the tomorrows they should have together.
Their time together will never feel like enough. A lifetime wouldn't have been enough, because when you have been fortunate enough to find a love like theirs, there is no amount of time that makes saying goodbye possible.
To her children and stepchildren, she was a mother in every way that mattered. To her siblings, she was a lifelong piece of home and history. To her parents, she was their daughter. To her grandchildren, niece, nephews, extended family, and friends, she was a source of love, laughter, guidance, strength, and countless memories.
Somehow, despite belonging to so many people in so many different ways, she made each person feel that their relationship with her was special.
That was one of her greatest gifts.
She possessed a rare kind of strength, quiet, unwavering, and rooted in love. Resilience in its highest form. Even while facing circumstances that would have broken most people, she remained strong. During some of the most difficult moments of her life, she was still reassuring the people around her.
"It will be okay. I've got this."
Those words embodied the woman we knew.
After months of treatments, hospital stays, medications, procedures, and uncertainty, she was finally able to return to the place she wanted most: home, surrounded by the people she loved.
While we would give anything for more time, there is tremendous comfort in knowing that her final chapter was no longer about hospitals, treatments, tests, or fighting.
It was about home.
It was about family.
It was about love.
The loss of someone who occupied such a tremendous space in our family leaves an absence that words cannot adequately describe. We are learning how to exist in a world that looks very different without her at the center of it.
The beautiful thing about being the heart of a family is that pieces of you continue to live everywhere.
Her life will continue through the stories we tell, the traditions we keep, the lessons she taught us, the laughter we remember, and the love she gave so freely.
Her fight is over. Only peace.
And although saying goodbye to the heart of our family feels impossible, we know that a love as enormous as hers does not end when a life does.
Forever loved, forever missed & always with us.
