

Thomas Byrne Jamieson passed away on October 24, 2018 at the age of 82 years. During his 14-year battle with cancer, Tom remained positive and fought right to the end. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Tom was the fourth child of David and Edith Jamieson. He is preceded in death by his brothers, David, Douglas, Dean and William and his sister, Jeanette Peltier.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Dorothy “Dottie” Urich and is preceded in death by Jeanette. He will be forever remembered as the devoted father of Suzanne (Marcus) Ridner and the late Kevin, as the loving grandfather to Kevin (Tara) Jamieson and great-grandfather to Serenity and Haygen. Tom was fondly known as “UT” or Uncle Tommy to his nieces, nephews and their families. He will be dearly missed by his many friends.
Since 2000, Tom and Dottie have resided in Akron, Ohio during the summer months, where Tom was very active in the community, golfed and enjoyed playing euchre regularly with friends.
A proud veteran, Tom enlisted in 1956 and served in Army Aviation in the Seventh Infantry in Germany. He began his career with Trans World Airlines in 1955 and served the airline and its passengers for 37 years. Tom often said he had the best job in the whole airline. TWA provided him the opportunity to work with celebrities and VIPs who he enjoyed assisting with their needs.
Tom loved sports, especially golf, which he and Dottie enjoyed together. They also liked to travel and experience music and theatre. Tom was a magnificent storyteller with a great sense of humor. In the High Point/Senior Golf Community where he lived, Tom was active in Bible study, social groups, fire department, mobile patrol, comedy club, the HP Golf Club and theatrical productions. He emceed, acted and sang in several productions and thoroughly enjoyed the preparation that went into each one.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the High Point Community Center, 12249 Club House Rd, Brooksville, FL 34613. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to HPH Hospice Care Resource, 12260 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, FL 34613.
