Timothy was born on December 9, 1957 in Front Royal, Virginia to Donald C. and Shirley Guess Magalis. Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife Joanne Marie Magalis, his four children, Timothy (Melanie) Magalis of Arizona, Lindsey (William) Carvajal of Florida, Shelby Magalis of Virginia, and Kristen (Louis) Chapman of Virginia, two grandchildren Charlotte and Michael Chapman, sisters Patty (Mark) Emery, Donna (Jeff) Neuberg, brother Brian (Donna) Magalis, and step-mother Cathy Potts Magalis.
Tim was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his children no matter what mischief they were getting into. Many family vacations were spent traveling in the motorhome, and many weekends were spent boating on the Potomac River or Lake Anna. Along with his travel and boating, Tim also enjoyed hunting, water sports, riding his Harley, racing his El Camino, snow plowing in the winter with his children, and repairing items that others discarded as broken and making them work again.
Tim graduated from Thomas Edison High School in Alexandria, Virginia. He was a carpenter by trade, and worked in all areas of construction. He ended his career working for Washington Headquarter Services Alexandria, VA as a Building Management Specialist.
His vast knowledge and experience in the construction trades, allowed him to build and repair just about anything he set his mind to, including the renovation of his family home in Alexandria, VA, which went from a small rambler to a two-story home for his growing family. His can-do attitude allowed him to take on new opportunities and challenges without fear.
Tim will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, and someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
A Celebration of Life will be held May 20 in Alexandria, VA.
