

Wes Redmond, age 84, died on Friday, July 3, 2015, at Oak Hill Hospital, in Brooksville, FL. A resident of Spring Hill, coming from Bay Shore, Long Island, New York, in October of 1989. Born on March 12, 1931, in Hermon, NY to the late Wesley A. & Lucille (Hellegas) Redmond, Sr. Wes was a 1950 graduate of Bay Shore High School, and a graduate of Pilgrim Psychiatric Center Nursing School, in 1954, in Brentwood, Long Island, New York, as a Registered Nurse. Wes continued his nursing career at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center until his retirement on June 12, 1987. Wes was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam War. He took his training at Fort Sam Houston, TX and as an Army Captain headed up the 85th Evac Hospital, Quin Yan, Vietnam, and for his service and actions was awarded the Bronze Star Metal for “Outstanding Meritorious Service” during the Tet Offensive from October 1967 to May 1968. After moving to Spring Hill Wes joined the staff at Oak Hill Hospital, in 1990 as the Nursing Supervisor, and remained until he retired in 2001. Known as a man of many talents, Wes could fix anything. Wes was a lifelong Methodist, and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Spring Hill. Wes also was a member of the VFW Post #10209 Spring Hill, FL. Wes was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ethel (Morgan) Redmond, son, Wayne Allen Redmond, and his sister, Eleanor Redmond Lanieri. Wes is lovingly survived by his family that includes his wife, Patty Redmond, of Spring Hill, FL. son, Wesley Redmond III, and his wife Betty, of Alamogordo, NM. Son, Gary Redmond and his wife Elena, of Centennial, CO. son, Brian Redmond and his wife Lisa, of Midlothian, VA. Daughter, Tracey Kwiatkowski and her husband David, of Powhatan, VA. daughter, Lindsey Marquart and her husband Brian, of Bay Shore, L.I.N.Y. and son, Neil Redmond and his wife Susan, of Boynton Beach, FL. Wes was also blessed by 20 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Family and friends will join together at the Turner Funeral Homes, Spring Hill Drive Chapel, 14360 Spring Hill, Dr. Spring Hill, FL. 34609 for a Memorial gathering on Friday, July 10, 2015, from 4 -7 PM. The memorial Service will be held at 6 PM, at the chapel. Military Honors and Burial will be planned for a near later date, at the Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell, FL.
