

Born in Bronx, New York to Sam and Belle Orenstein and also raised by Isidore Oken, he lived most of his life in Rockland County, NY. Al was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife and best friend Joan of 61 years, daughters Meryl Brown and Stacy Topalian, sons-in-law George and Adam, and his four grandchildren; Douglas, Gabrielle, Matthew and Zachary.
Al was an extremely kind, caring, compassionate and proud man who had a strong work ethic. After enlisting and serving in the Army for 2 years, he had a very successful advertising career spanning 4 decades and continued to share his business skills, motivation and good-nature working part-time for 18 years post-retirement. He was an avid dancer and active in the local New City community planning boards. He enjoyed going to the theater, listening to music, reading a hard cover book, playing billiards and in his early years spending hours on the paddleball court. His grandchildren were the light of his life. One of his greatest joys was to attend their special school activities, concert performances and sporting events. Al will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Hellman Memorial Chapels15 State St., Spring Valley, NY 10977.Entombment will follow at The Sanctuary of Abraham and Sarah, 735 Forest Ave., Paramus, NJ 07653.
Shiva for immediate family will follow burial and will be at the home of Stacy and Adam Topalian, 18 Cedar Hill Lane, Pound Ridge, NY 10576.
