Hey miss blauschild this is Gene "Gino" Simmons Andrew's friend from way back in the day that dated Ron Greens Cousin Debra Szpicek  by the time I found out it was too late to get from Florida to New York but I'm sorry I missed his service Andrew will truly be missed and will always be loved hopefully you and your family are doing okay and in this time of Sorrow. I'm sending my love thoughts and prayers Gino ❤️

Drew was one of the 4 friends along with Adam, Jamie and Mattie that persuaded me to get over my fear of sharks and to get in the ocean to learn to surf. That was 25 years ago at the cut and surfing has been my greatest joy in life ever since; Thank you Drew for the gift of gifts, I’ll miss seeing you out back and your positive grounded kindness, you touched my life forever. Deepest love to your family.

My deepest condolences to Andrew’s family, 
We never managed to meet in person but we chatted and talked about life, surfing, family, and to live some day in a place like the beach of the movie the beach. We were so same minded and had the same values, ideas of life and sense of humor. 
I will remember him as the funniest, heartiest, kindest person, as a surf icon and incredibly talented artist. I am still in shock. I know how much he cared about his parents, family and friends. And he wants you to think of him smiling and in best mood. Love,

I will always think of Andrew when I go to Ditch. Such a tragic loss, but he will live on in his art. Rest in Peace dear friend.

Since receiving the news of Drew’s passing I’ve felt a calling to visit a spot we’d surfed  together many times  in years past and he’d  often use to photograph from. 

Last night we burned a candle  in his honor reflecting on years of memories and joy filled “Drew” moments. The moon rose, stars streaked across the nights sky, and the most vibrant beam of light reflected on the ocean’s surface ( as if it were a path way).  It stretched as far as the eye could see from the bluff we were sitting on to the horizon. Undoubtedly we felt his presence.. 

While there’s an emptiness inside me, I’m blessed to have shared time with him in this life. The countless sessions in the water and stories talked will never be forgotten. His passion for life was infectious and he let you know. He forever has a place in my heart.

So many memories recalled by candle and moon light night. Drew's canvas in all it's glory. We are preparing to drive west soon. I't 9am Thursday. Photo from last night 10pm. Deepest condolences to the family and all who will miss Drew forever and forever revel in his memories and the art he left us.

Andrew was a classmate of mine at Spring Valley  High School. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. May you take comfort in knowing he lived a life doing what he loved. My deepest condolences to his family.
