
Barbara Schnur passed away peacefully on November 15, 2019. Born Barbara Haskell on September 3, 1942, in Queens, NY, she earned her bachelors from SUNY College at Cortland, followed by her Masters in Arts from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She taught elementary and middle school, creating the first gifted and talented program in the Tenafly, NJ school district. In her second successful career, she became a recruiter in the IT field.
Barbara married Howard Schnur on July 4, 1965, and they settled in Chestnut Ridge, NY. They shared an overall love of life, enjoying international travel, theater, music, art, and whatever adventures they could find together. Barbara is survived by Howard, her sons Eric (Eileen) of Valley Cottage, NY, and David (Joni) with grandchildren Ryan and Lindsey of Alexandria VA, and her brother Paul (Valerie) of Woodcliff Lake, NJ.
Memorial Services will be held at 3 PM, on Sunday, November 24th, at Hellman Memorial Chapels, 15 State Street, Spring Valley, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lustgarten Foundation (www.Lustgarten.org) or Mary’s Place by the Sea (www.marysplacebythesea.org).
