Bernard Kaplan, born in the Bronx on November 21, 1926 passed on his 98th half birthday, May 21, 2025 surrounded by his family in the home he loved. Bernie was a Navy Veteran from WWII, Fireman First Class, and was seasick the whole time he was in the service. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Selma, who he said was the prettiest girl he knew, his 2 daughters and their spouses, his 4 grandsons and their wives and 6 great-grandchildren who affectionately called him GGPA. He loved getting the whole family together for celebrations and group pictures. He once said he did not know how to be a father because he grew up with a single mom and 3 siblings but he certainly figured it out, made it his own and no one did it better.
Bernie loved photography, telling jokes, eating cake, ice cream and salami, playing chess and pinochle and going to the zoo. He was a creative inventor and could build anything. He loved going to “The Club”, socializing with friends, bowling and doing projects.
Bernie was a gentle man, patient and kind, and he will be missed by everyone he touched with his humor, his love and his grace.
