Elsie Savitt

Elsie Savitt, formerly of Nanuet, passed away on December 21, 2012. Elsie was born May 29, 1923 to the late Joseph and Gussie Rosenfeld in Hungary. She grew up in the Bronx along with her brother Harry. She was an excellent student who loved school and learning. After graduating High School, she began her career as a secretary, working her way up to Executive Secretary at Republic Pictures in New York City. She met and married Ken Savitt in 1954 and moved to New Milford, New Jersey, where her two daughters, Susan and Nancy were born. In 1960 the family moved to Nanuet, New York. The family joined the Nanuet Hebrew Center where Elsie was an active member in Sisterhood and Hadassah. She was a vibrant, outgoing person, who was genuinely interested in people, whether they were strangers she just met and would probably never see again, or live-long friends and family. Her family was always the main focus of her life, and we were blessed having her in ours. Elsie is survived by her beloved husband Kenneth, her two cherished daughters Nancy (Bill), Susan (Dan), her adored granddaughters Jenna and Sarina, and her precious brother Harry Rosenfeld and his family.
