My husband Dave and I first met Gail at Boca Lago in January 2015, our first post-retirement trip to Florida.  Gail was a true sport as she immediately welcomed us and always made sure that there was a place for us next to her at Club functions.  Dave and I will cherish memories of many laughs and meals together, to say nothing of adventurous shopping trips with a true friend.  I will remember the many phone calls enquiring about my health and cheering me on.  I always felt better after her calls.  She will always be in our hearts.

Some people might give you the shirt off their backs, but Gail gave me an evening gown from her closet.  It’s not that I didn’t have plenty of dresses. But for this occasion, Gail said, I had to be dressed just right and she had the perfect gown! It was a beautiful dress, black with sequins and beads along the neckline. I wore it with great pride. The occasion? The Inaugural Ball for George Bush Sr. Gail was always a giving, generous and thoughtful friend. We had many fun times and great years in the old Monsey neighborhood.  I will cherish those memories.

Dear Gail,
I met you more than 35 years ago when Howard and I joined the Dellwood Country Club.  At that time Fredric was 12. I went down to the tennis courts and you were like a one person welcoming committee. You immediately invited me to join your game and have lunch.  You introduced me to everyone you knew in the dining room - which was almost everyone in the dining room!
Fast forward...we became good friends as did our children. (Mindy was the same age as Fred.)
When many years later our kids became engaged, they came to dinner that special night when we were at dinner at Dellwood, and you took them around to introduce them -and me as your new 
machataenasta (spelling?).  You told me your friend Harriet had a special word for us...it was "Macha-tootsie". I loved it!
We spent many hours planning the wedding events and ate many lunches together.
They were good years--we were lucky to have them.
We always ended our our time with "LOVE YOU"
....and we do!  Leslie (Howard and Jolie, too)

It is with a sad heart that I write about Gail, a very special person to all who were lucky enough to have known her, and Larry and Gail go back a good sixty years,  including graduating high school together.
We have shared much with Sandy and Gail, both the simchas and the shivas, but  it is the good times that we’ll keep fresh in our minds.  Our days at Dellwood Country Club, the trips to Palm Desert to explore and sunbathe, and of course our many dinners and brunches, always fun filled !  Gail will be remembered by us for her warmth, big heart, and lots of laughter.  Gail, until we meet again….rest in peace.

Gail was a special friend to both Peter and myself.  She took us under her wing when we first joined Dellwood in 1985 introducing us to half the world there.
She took me shopping for dresses that I needed for both my sons weddings because I knew I could count on her fashion expertise. 
Lastly she was forever indebted to Peter for becoming her blood brother when he donated his O negative blood to her for her heart surgery.

I met Gail at Delleood Country Club, I was the new girl at the tennis mixer, Gail introduced 
herself and then to make sure I felt truly welcome she proceeded to introduce me to every one else there. That day I knew I had met someone very special, and so began our friendship.
This was the essence of Gail, she cared. She had a good heart and she enjoyed life, but most of all she loved her family, her beloved Samantha, Mindy, Alexis and her rock,Sandy.
We shared many many happy times and also the
devastating lows . It was a great ride my friend
and I will miss you.

I met Gail and Sandy under the most unfortunate of circumstances and have been fortunate (and blessed) getting to know them over the past ten years and calling them friends.    On my many trips to Florida and their trips back to NYC, we always made time to meet up for a drink or dinner and share the happenings in our lives.  From the minute I met Gail I was hooked by her wholesomeness and magnetic personality.  On many occasions, we would give each other a call to say hello and share a laugh or two.  She was a kind beautiful person who was honest and sincere.  I will miss our talks and meetups.  She holds a special place in my heart.  May her memory be a blessing. Gail will always be remembered by us for her kindness and love of her family. We were always separated by distance but when we all got together it was as if no time had passed. And every time she saw Mike she always said he looked like Uncle Milty. I especially remember the time we made lasagna together during Hurricane Irma when no restaurants were open. Gail was so excited that we were cooking together.
We loved to visit with Gail and Sandy when we went to Florida and Gail was always making sure we were introduced to everyone. She was so proud of her family and wanted everyone to know it. Our small family has lost one of its shining stars.

Gail & I first met at Dellwood C.C many years ago. We played tennis together and shared much laughter and only the happiest of times.  Steve & I always enjoyed our dinners with Gail & Sandy and have
only the fondest of memories of our times together.
Gail was warm, inclusive and treated everyone fairly. She was lots of fun and a very loving personality. She  cherished her family and

I met Gail and sandy when they moved into Boca lago and she became a new best friend. Will miss her daily phone calls and the many dinners we shared so many times. Life is not always kind and my thoughts go out to sandy and the family at a most difficult time.

We met Gail & Sandy in 1976. They were neighbors We shared many Sunday afternoons of laughter, talk and just time. Gail was just “ Gail”, no pretense. If you were lucky enough to be in her circle, she kept you close to her heart. We shared a vegetable garden. Gail’s job was to weed, which she did with Winnies hands
After Winnies first weeding removed all of the plants, Gail was reassigned to watering. When we got word that Sam was born, I remember going to the freezer and removing a 2.2 lb chicken to imagine her size. Gail took me to the hospital when I gave birth to Ilana. Maybe this in some way contributed to the almost daily Amazon shoe delivery at Ilana’s door Gail rightfully insisted the back ache I had every 2 min while eating my ice cream Sundae was not just a back ache. We shared much, good and bad. We are grateful to have had Gail in our lives and so sad for the loss we all feel.

My favorite memories of Gail are literally every time my daughter and I would come to visit from Ohio. Gail we greet us with the loudest squeal of excitement and then yell for Sandy to come see us.  Arms outstretched,  giant smile, and a kiss.  She ALWAYS made us feel so special and part of the family.  When she spoke with you she engaged 100% and was genuinely open with her own stories.  Savannah and I love you Gail! You will be sorely missed! I wish we would have taken more photos!!

As a lifelong friend of Mindy's, and the best man at her wedding to Fred, Gail and I had a long-lasting and fun-loving relationship.   She was always eager to hear the latest updates and gossip about my life, Mindy's life, and everything surrounding us.  Her interest in us, her obvious love for her family and those (like me), who surrounded and loved her family was undeniable and adorable.  Over the past 20 years, we suffered through hardship together and I was always impressed with her strength and positive attitude.  She battled her own physical ailments, but always managed to provide uplifting messages and hope to all that were around her.  She treated me like a member of her family and I will always picture her the way she greeted me every time I saw her:  with her arms wide open eager to share a hug and loving embrace.   Her marriage to Sandy and her love for her daughters was unconditional and without any wavering.  I will miss her spirit, her great sense of humor, and the constant love she wasn't shy to share with me or my family.  Thank you for all of your love, Gail.  Thinking of you will always bring a smile to my face.  

As Seth’s sister, my family & I were so lucky to spend some time with Gail over the past few years. She brought a smile to my face and tears to my eyes when she talked about sitting and laughing with my mom, Helen, at the Dellwood pool. Gail was warm, loving and so, so overjoyed to see Mindy, Alexis and Seth as a happy family.  I enjoyed Sandy’s famous margaritas with Gail this past February and will always cherish our laughs and hugs. We love you all! Always, Jill (Harvey, Harris & Alex)

Russ and I met Gail & Sandy at a golf tournament at Boca Lago. It was our first time playing in a holiday tournament starting at 8:30 AM on a Sunday and I was nervous but Gail was very welcoming and calmed me by making me laugh when she kept asking what were we doing there when we should all still be sleeping.  We so enjoyed having dinners out and at the Club with Gail and Sandy. Gail had a wonderful sense of humor and a heart of gold. She was so very warm and sweet and treated everyone like family. She was as excited as we were when our  grandson was born. She was Grandma Gail and loved hearing all about him. She loved her family and couldn’t be prouder of Mindy and Alexis.  We will miss her quick wit and loving ways.

Dear Sandy & Family,
Although we only knew Gail for a short few years we cherish that special time. Gail was our guru for restaurants and reservations. No matter what the food type, Gail knew the best place to eat. Whether it was pizza from Jet’s or steak at Abe & Louie’s, she would never steer us wrong. We will miss her forever and always remember, as she would, to say, “I love you”.

I first met Gail when we were teenagers and she entered our 8th grade classroom at North Main Street School in Spring Valley as “the new girl” from the city. We remained part of the same group of friends all through High School and then again after returning to Rockland after college. 
We especially renewed our friendship when I ended up having Gail and Sandy’s wonderful daughter Mindy in my 4th grade class at Rockland Hebrew Day School.  I always respected and admired that they had raised this lovely, endearing nine year old who grew into a beautiful, charming young women. 
Whenever I saw Gail over the years , she was so proud of her entire family - always sharing stories and pictures. 
Gail will be missed by her SVHS Class of ‘60 classmates who shared so much together. 
May she Rest In Peace and her Memory Be For a Blessing. 

Gail was larger than life. Someone I had the benefit of calling “framily” for over 30 years. 

Sandy, Gail and I have  shared very high moments, and equally low moments together. One thing that remained clear through it all was that Gail was tough as nails. She always looked for the good in everyone, but when she saw the bad in someone she’d call it out with a vocal and emphatic warning, as a means of protecting those she loved. 

At the end of the day, Gail loved family. She cherished her relationship  with Sandy and her children. She had dear friends that she considered family too - I was honored to be one of them. 

She was so proud of “her” Samantha, Mindy and Fred; and Alexis was truly g-d’s gift to her world. 

She was so happy to see Mindy find true love again and I believe she was finally at peace. While Gail was a “golden glover” of life, she was no longer able to fight. Instead, she chose to go and reunite with Sam and Fred so she can more effectively watch over us all. 

Life is interesting, but meeting a good soul like Gail makes it so much better. I’ll never forget “my” Gail.”  She was always my champion, even when I felt like giving up on myself.

We went out to dinner with Gail and Sandy many many times over the years, but this one time is our most memorable one.  We were seated in an Italian restaurant and the waiter came over to us and introduced himself as "Forty".  With that Gail said "hello Forty, my name is Thirty."  Well, we were hysterical at her quick and witty response.  After the waiter left us to decide on our dinners, my husband decided he was going to be "Fifty" and the two of them made for a very funny comedy act!  It was a time we both will never forget!! Gail brought us soooo much laughter and joy during our times together!  She will be terribly missed and remembered with much love...rest in peace dear friend.

Gail was  frequently at or nearby  my lunch table; we all knew that period of time was going to be replete with laughter.

What I loved most about Gail was that she was always so happy and excited to be with Mindy's Penn State girlfriends!  I roomed with Mindy at both PSU and in NYC after we graduated, and Gail was always right there in the mix with all of us and loved us like we were all her daughters.  She was so happy to hang out with us and was always so fun.  She loved to hear what was going on with everyone and had such a great sense of humor and was so joyful to be around. I loved Gail's big personality so much.  She was one of the girls of 303 and she will be so missed!  Much love to all of you and to Gail!

I first met Gail when I was too young to realize I was meeting her. Mindy and I were in the same playgroup when we were babies. When Mindy began dating Fred and then went to Penn State, Gail and I were back in each others' lives again. No matter who we were with or what group we were in, Gail always loved to tell everyone how long she knew me. In fact, she loved to tell everyone how she knew me for so long that she used to change my diapers in playgroup. Maybe not the image everyone wanted to have, but she always loved to say it and it always made us laugh. :) I will miss being introduced that way. Gail was a lovely and sweet woman.

I met Gail because of my friendship with Mindy and Alexis.  Mindy’s Mom, as I lovingly referred to her as, was always excited and happy to see me and my daughter. She would greet us with a huge beautiful smile and hug    She made you know that you were important to her and to  her family!   It was an honor to know her and she will be missed.  Know that her kindness and loving spirit will stay with us all always.  

I met Gail through our two beautiful daughters. We shared joys of participating in the important times in their lives. It brought us together on numerous occasions and we laughed, danced and kvelled over champagne and chocolate delights. We enjoyed days sitting around at my house in New City, just enjoying being together and talking about our girls. Gail never was at a loss for words and with those words came uproarious laughter which always made you laugh so hard. She was a firecracker! I will always think of her with a smile and never forget what we shared, as our connection is so important to me.  Our families will forever be linked together and Gail was an important part of the beauty of that bond. 

Gail was a substitute teacher at Suffern Middle School for many years. She was loved by all staff and students. As teachers, we would always try to get Gail to sub for our classes when we were absent. My best memories are of Gail in our faculty room where we would eat lunch or go to  get a break from the students during our prep periods. We all talked about everything under the sun, but mostly spent a lot of time laughing hysterically. Gail had a great sense of humor and knew how to tell a story.  My condolences to Gail’s family, which she truly loved and lived for. 

Dear Sandy, Mindy and the entire Cohn Family,

It is with deep sadness that my husband John and I extend this unexpected note of
condolence.  We had the delight of meeting Gail through her husband, Sandy, a dear friend and business colleague of mine.

I can truly claim that no matter the
production or the location, Sandy’s production notebook proudly housed lovely family photos of Gail, his girls, and accompanying tales to tell!

Gail was fiercely proud of her family.  She absolutely percolated  with love and admiration for all those in her charge.  

As years passed, Gail and Sandy began to
split their time between NY and Florida.
We seized the opportunity to meet for dinner outings and family “catch-ups” at local area restaurants… 
one sadly pending later this Fall.

As you gather and reflect on Gail and a
life well-lived,  may you seize the joy in
everything she gave to you, and may you
find yourself in the warm embrace of 
family and friends.
