Born Aug 27, 1926 died Jan 23 , 2022
Gil will be remembered for so many things. He was a kind-hearted man who helped where ever he could. At 95, he and his loving wife of almost 70 years were known as the Energizer Bunnies, always helping and supporting their community, their synagogue, the senior center, the Jewish Film Festivals, and so much more.
Gil loved teaching science. It was his passion. He wrote 10 science workbooks over the span of 50 years, with the last one published when he was 90. Gil believed that learning was a hands-on experience and taught his students from his heart. He was also a past president and fellow of the Science Teachers Association of NYS.
Gil cherished his extended family at West Clarkstown Jewish Center. He was always there early on Saturday to get the Kiddush ready.
Gil was a proud World War II veteran. He was so proud to be invited to an Honor Flight in 2015. His time in the Army was a very proud time in his life. He wore his jumpsuit still into his 80s while shoveling snow.
Gil had a warm sense of humor. A strong bond with friends. He was a loving and devoted husband to his soulmate, Lil. He was a fantastic father to his 4 children Don (Linda), Cori (Al Z”L), Barbara (Mike), and Jack (Darlene). A loving wonderful role model to his grandchildren Jason (Laura ) Zinn, Daniel Zinn, Taryn (John) Rothstein Lipe, Kaile Rothstein, Jesse (Rebecca) Rothstein, Nayim Saati (Sophie), Adir Saati, Maya Saati, Ian Zinn, and Rebecca Zinn. He was Gpop to his great-grand children Lilly and Kayla Zinn.
His legacy is that he touched so many lives and will be remembered by so many.
