My father’s 102nd birthday, surrounded by loved ones. We will never forget Herbie.

Will never forget how happy my dad was when Herbie and Linda surprised him for his 102nd birthday. The Fleishers and Kujawskis were not related by blood, but we always considered ourselves family.

Dear Linda, Randi, and Adam,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Herbie’s passing. Please accept my most sincere condolences.

Although my connection to your family was primarily through Harold—whose sudden and tragic loss at such a young age has always stayed with me, I was truly heartened to reconnect with Herbie recently. While going through a family archive of photographs left by my late uncle, Leonard Fleisher, I came across so many meaningful images. Seeing Jack, Esther, Herbert, and Harold alongside my grandparents Sylvia and Abraham, and my mother, Aileen Fleisher Kirsch, brought back a profound sense of shared history and connection between our families.
When I sent these photos to Herbie, he felt compelled to call, and we had the chance to reconnect after so many years. I will always remember how often he spoke with such love and pride about his children and grandchildren. His warmth and humor were unmistakable, especially when he would say, “I don’t do Zoom, I need to squeeze cheeks!”

I am so sorry for your loss—truly, a loss I feel as well. My thoughts are with all of you during this difficult time.

Our Tribute:
Herb, “ Zichrono livracha” may his memory be a blessing
A mensch.
A man with a smile as bight as the sun.
A heart bigger than outdoors.
A life led by love and devotion.
The world is a better place because of him and a sad place without him.
The hole left in everyone’s heart due to his passing is being filled with an abundance of wonderful shared memories.
Michael and I are so thankful to have been invited into his and Linda’s life through the marriage of our son Ray to Randi. 
We see his and Linda’s goodness imprinted on Randi and our shared grandsons Jack and Joey.
He was a fine example of “ a life well lived” and has left an indelible mark on our lives.
He has and always will be a blessing to us.
With sincerest sympathy to his beloved Linda, Randi, Adam and their families. 
“Min haShamayim tenuhamu” may you be comforted from heaven.

When Judy and Linda reconnected, and I met Herbie,  it was an instant friendship.  Herbie and I loved talking about politics and cars.  Every time we talked, he would always call me “boychik” and I always loved hearing it!  We will miss him dearly!  Steve Sails

My Tribute to Herbie
 My friendship with Herbie really began when he became my driver many years ago when I worked in print production.
He showed up at my door one day and I was shocked that my print vendor sent him to pick me up.  After that first time he became my driver for many years.  He always showed up with a coffee for me and he knew just how I liked it.  He knew the kind of music I liked to listen to on the drive or when I just needed silence.  His limo was always spotless  and he was very proud of that.
He picked me up at airports or late at night from my office.  We drove  many a night on the Palisades Parkway in dense fog but I was never afraid with Herbie driving.  He was so liked by my vendor that he was always invited to join us for lunch.
Herbie is one of the best people I’ve ever known. He 
and Linda took care of me after my cancer returned 5 years ago.  They not only took me to and from my surgery but I stayed at their house right after surgery for the entire weekend.  
When I retired he showed up at my office and carried all my belongings to his car, drove me home and carried  everything up To my Apt.   
When I had low tire pressure he would show up with his tools and fix it for me.  He was also one of the smartest people I’ve ever known..
He knew his history, his sports, and how to Barbecue anything!
He was a generous man who always welcomed me into his home.
When I would ask him how he was he always answered “simply marvelous “.  He was a fighter and a giver.  My heart is broken today because I loved him and I will miss him.

As all who know Mr. Herbert will speak of his legacy, they will remember a man who loved his family with his whole chest. Mr. Herbert protected his wife like it was his life’s mission, his number one cheerleader, his confidant, his everything. Mr. Herbert showed up for his daughter and son, and he poured love into his grandsons and granddaughter every chance he got.
Mr. Herbert was an amazing host, a gentle giant, and someone who embraced everybody. All races, all nationalities, all walks of life. That was simply who he was. Mr. Herbert’s legacy will always stand as a beacon of hope because his spirit lives on through every person he touched, including me. He carried the kindest soul, and he truly wanted to see a better world. He did his part with kindness, with grace, and with a heart that never stopped giving.

Herbie was a well loved big brother not just to Harold but to all of us children of survivors, he radiated warmth, had the most impressive hug and always showed up and made everyone feel special.   Our memories of holidays together, Ester and Jack’s 25th wedding anniversary party at  his and Linda’s home, the magnificent fall wedding of Randi and Raymond that brought us all together for another best time memory.  There was always room for everyone and Herbie was always there, visiting my parents in the hospital with a smile and comfort always the best medicine! Yankee games and. New Orleans together.  Mostly knowing this kind, generous, loving, positive and super funny bear was always there, we were lucky to have him m our lives and hearts. The world lost a good one, may he find comfort with Harold, Ester and
Jack, see you on the other side dearest Herbie! Best dad and grandpa and hubby ❤️
