Valhalla, NY on Friday, May 25, 2012, after suffering from a stroke
several days earlier.
Born to Anna and Harry Dobzewitz on December 31, 1927 in the Bronx,
NY, he was the sixth of eight sons. He attended Stuyvesant High
School, was drafted into the Army at the age of 17, just as WWII was
ending, and was stationed in Ft. Knox in Kentucky. He was married to
Janet Stotsky, who died in April of 2003, just short of their 50th
anniversary. They had two daughters, Holly and Robin, with whom they
moved to Rockland County from the Bronx in 1963 where they remained
until Janet's passing. After that, Irving relocated to Armonk, NY to
live with his daughter Robin and her family. He became a resident at
the Hebrew Home in July of 2004 after a severe car accident, where he
was attended to by their very caring staff.
With a love of trains, planes and automobiles, he spent his entire
career in the automobile industry, selling Ramblers, Dodges, Mazdas,
Buicks, Chryslers and Mercedes-Benz, eventually becoming Service
Manager for Tappan Motors in Tarrytown, NY. His passion for transport
was equalled only to his passion for sports, particularly golf and his
beloved Mets, of whom he was a long suffering fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Holly, of Manhattan, his daughter,
Robin Rosenthal and her husband Keith, two grandchildren, Daniele and
Dylan of Armonk, NY, brothers Aaron, of Dallas, TX and brother Gregg,
of Hallandale, FL, and many loving sisters and brothersin-law, neices
and nephews.
