James J. Yarmus passed on October 30, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on August 11, 1941 in Havana, Cuba, he was a resident of Wanaque, NJ following many happy years with his beloved wife Helene in New City, NY and Delray Beach, Florida. He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Michelle and Phil Pearlman, and his son and daughter in law, Andrew and Ariel Yarmus, as well as his sister, Berta Sherman, and his brother, Moses Yarmus. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Carley Yarmus and Lara Yarmus, and his grandsons, Aaron Pearlman and Max Pearlman.
Funeral service will be held at Hellman Memorial Chapels, 15 State Street, Spring Valley, NY 10977, on November 1, 2026, beginning at 10:45 am. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled service.
Interment will follow at Gates of Zion Cemetery, 670 Saddle River Rd, Airmont, NY 10952.
