He was so kind to me at Westminster 2024 when I had to show my own dog because my handler had a conflict.  He even made sure someone took my picture.  He was a true gentleman.  We will all miss him.

A truly good man who will be missed by many.  He had a great love for dogs and people.  He was bright, informed and fun!

The dog world has lost an exceptional judge and a very fine human being.   He will be sorely missed.

I know he was the love of your life.  For me, he was the bright spot of any dog show and a wonderful mentor and judge.   Just his smile was so reassuring to me.   He cared about all of us newbie dog show-ers as well as the "old duffs" in the ring.

Jeff and my father were childhood friends. I have known him my entire life as we also lived in Putnam Valley. My father and Jeff would always share a visit or a phone call either here in NY or down in Florida. Lifelong friendships are rare. And even more rare were people like Jeff who was always willing to help others. My sincere hope is that the afterlife brings him back to not only my father but all lost before him. When the Rabbi explained our tradition of covering the Aron with earth and its symbolism of it being the most sacred thing you can do for the deceased because they can never pay you back, i was thankful I wore my shoes made for weather, as my father would want his friend protected as well as he had protected all who knew him.

Uncle Jeffrey (we called him that even though he was our dad’s cousin) was a bright light in the world. My sister and I were lucky to spend some time with him at family dinners and holidays when he lived in California. I will always remember him as being funny and kind. As a fellow dog owner, we always had something to talk about in that regard as well. Sending love everyone in our family who has been affected by the loss of a wonderful man.

A very special person . He always had room in his heart for everyone he met. His heart was as big as the universe. We will greatly miss him. No one will take his place.  And he will be forever missed.

I have a lot of good memories of my brother-in-law over the years. I remember him as a gracious host in Putnam Valley and a mischievous co-conspirator with my husband, Lindley Garner. They shared a passion for photography and an abiding love for family. We looked forward to his postings about his travels abroad and his beautiful orchids. Jeff was generous, funny, hard-working, and dedicated to his professions and hobbies. May his memory be a blessing for his family, friends, and community.

Too many memories that started about 40 years ago (of course) through dogs  and the Basset Griffon Vendéen specific. We became friends and shared mutuel interest in dogs, flowers, African wild life  and our lives. Living on the other side of the ocean made visiting an adventure every time. He would take me and the kids to national parks like Yosemite and save my youngest for chasing after a bear trying to take photo with his camera!  Many lovely moments that I cherish  deeply, like the gift of the bronze statue of a BGV  a couple of years ago.  A statue I wanted to buy 40 years ago but couldn't afford at the time.  We discussed  dogs, dog people, judges and judging,  our  family  lives and struggles you go through as a parent of teenagers.  He will be sorely missed but at least  he is no longer suffering from his deteriorating health. He lived a full life at his terms. Thank you Jeff for everything! Love Jolanda

Jeff was an important person in my life in my “tween” years. I was returning to camp as a tween camper in 1966, and he was working at County Boys and Men, a clothing store which was also a camp outfitter, in Scarsdale/New Rochelle. He happened to be the sales person helping my mother and me get all my stuff for camp. It was only then as we were talking that he said he too was working at a camp, and to my delight, it was of course Camp Willoway!

So Jeff was my connection from home at camp. But not only that. That school year, Jeff was my school bus driver. What a delightful surprise. I never got to really understand about all his small jobs and how our paths crossed in so many ways.

So in addition to my sadness at his passing, I want to add what I think is the highest compliment: Jeff made a difference…. To me and to so many others.

My loved ones are also at Sharon Gardens.  I hope to pay my respects to him there once more.

A very special wise and wonderful man left this world a better place for having been in it.  Jeff was a lovable human being who had many words of wisdom to impart that would comfort and help heal a soul. His wicked and timely sense of humor would have us laughing hysterically  and he had the ability to lift anyone’s spirit.  To say Heaven has reclaimed one of its angels is an understatement

I met Jeff when I was a young girl and hardly anyone knew what a golden retriever was.  He was always supportive and kind, even to a kid.  Throughout the years we stayed in touch and, he enjoyed meeting my son 15 years ago at the Take The Lead booth.   The entire dog show world will miss him and so will the world at large.  Rest well friend!   I’ll be there are lot of happy dogs waiting to see you again.
