Jeff (Mr. Schragenheim) was an amazing teacher and an even better person. He always had a positive attitude and made every one of us feel accepted and valued at Riverview and BOCES West Nyack.

Whenever life got tough, I knew I could talk to Mr. Schragenheim. Thank you so much for being the guide I needed when I needed guidance the most. Your kindness, support, and encouragement made a lasting impact on my life, and I’ll always be grateful for everything you did.

Rest in peace, Mr. Schragenheim. You will forever be the greatest teacher of all time. My heartfelt condolences go out to your family. If there’s anything I can do to help, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Schragenheim was one of the first few teachers that i truly clicked with. we had the same humor, took interest in many of the same things, overall someone i had a connection with. i send only my condolences and may he rest in peace, i'll miss you Schragenheim

Mr Schragenheim was not only a wonderful teacher, but a great person to get to know. He was the first teacher I ever truly clicked with when I went to riverview. To hear about this truly breaks my heart and I really hope his loved ones are doing okay, or as best as they can right now during this time of sadness. Such an honor to know him, he will always be remembered as such a sweet and amazing person to me. So sorry to his friends and family for this loss. He was truly the best❤️‍🩹

Mr. Schragenheim was a very great man I was deeply heartbroken hearing the man who defended me in my first year of high school from all the bullying I faced in his class pass away… Even with our differences it really breaks me seeing this happen… I graduated a month ago and it really is sad watching the man that saw me grow these past 4 years of high school… I am sure that he will be in a better place now… But it really breaks me seeing this happen… Farewell to my 9th Grade Living Environment teacher 💔💔💔

I was so deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Mr. Schragenheim. I was fortunate enough to be a student in his class for two years at Riverview High School / Rockland BOCES. He was a dedicated teacher who cared about his students and left a lasting impression on me. My thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time."

I’m sorry to hear of his passing, may his memory be a blessing

Jeffrey was my first cousin. My mother , Rachel and his mother, Esther were the best of friends. So, too, were their children. My brother Jack, Linda, Jeffrey, and I were the “ younger four”
That meant that we were not only cousins, but playmates as well. At every family gathering, we would huddle together and make up entertaining stories, such as Vivie, Jack, Linda, and Jeffrey get flushed down the toilet bowl and find themselves in the sewers!
I can honestly say that Jeffrey was one of the sweetest people I have ever met. He never said anything unkind word about anyone.
I will miss him for the rest of my life.

I am heartbroken over the loss of Jeffrey. Some of the happiest memories of my childhood, teenage years, and early adulthood were spent with the Schragenheim family—so many wonderful times with my cousins, filled with laughter, love, and a feeling of belonging.

Jeffrey was truly a kind and gentle soul. There was not a mean bone in his body. He had such a generous spirit, a warm smile, and that wonderful, boisterous laugh that could fill a room. I will always remember the cruise we took to the Bahamas and how hard we laughed together—until my sides literally ached.

When my mother passed away, the Schragenheims took me in during the most difficult period of my life up to that point. Jeffrey and Linda became like a brother and sister to me. Their love, kindness, and support helped carry me through a time I did not know how to navigate on my own, and I will never forget what that meant to me.

I am deeply sorry that I cannot be there in person as I deal with my own medical struggles, but please know that I am there in spirit. My heart is with Karen, all of Jeffrey’s children and grandchildren, and my dear cousin Linda. I wish so much that I could be there to mourn with you, celebrate Jeffrey’s life, and give each of you a hug.

I will always remember Jeffrey with tremendous love and gratitude. He was a beautiful soul, and I feel incredibly lucky to have called him my cousin.

My sincere sympathy to you Karen and the kids. There are no words that can ease this pain but I wanted you all to know I'm thinking of your family.
