Joel was born in Manhattan but ended up going to school in Queens. He made many lasting friendships there. He went to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and received his Master’s Degree from Yeshiva University. He spent most of his career in medical diagnostics. He was able to travel to Europe and even Japan through this work.
Joel was a courageous person. He had to deal with physical challenges his whole life. He had a progressive disease that caused wasting of the muscles in his arms and legs. He never let this stop him. Also, as a result of diverticulitis and sepsis, he developed portal hypertension that caused his liver to become cirrhotic. He was on a host of medications for this, but he still pursued the things he loved. This included theater, bridge, reading, his dogs Bogart and Oreo, and of course the New York Mets. He always wanted to see our niece Kara and nephew Alex and their children.
He leaves his wife Diane, and his sister Merrill Hall.
