

Morton A. Simon, of Pomona New York, and lately of West Orange, New Jersey, passed away on July 8, 2021. Born and raised in New York City, he graduated from Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan and the Baruch School of the City University of New York at the age of 19. He served in the Army National Guard for seven and a half years and was a past President of his B’nai Brith Lodge.
Mr. Simon was a prominent figure in the Toy and Hobby Business for all of his life. He served as President of Transogram Toy Company, and was a member of the Young Presidents’ Association. He later started and ran his own business, Collectors Marketing Corporation, which developed and sold an innovative line of baseball cards and other hobby products. After selling his business in 1989, he dedicated himself full-time to a life of philanthropy, establishing the Morton A. and Phyllis B. Simon Charitable Foundation, with his beloved wife, Phyllis, who predeceased him in 2017. A devoted family man, he taught his children the value of hard work, the importance of preparation, organization, achievement, and dedication to a cause. He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Simon Kaplowitz (Brian Kaplowitz) and daughter-in-law Eden Simon, widow of his son Harlan, who predeceased him in 2020, as well as five grandchildren, Jonathan Kaplowitz (Stephanie Kass), Rachel Kaplowitz, Nathaniel Simon, Jacob Simon and Rebecca Simon. He will be missed without measure. Contributions may be made in his memory to the Morton A. and Phyllis B. Simon Charitable Foundation or the Harlan H. Simon Legacy Fund.
