
Muriel Weiss, a 72 year resident of Elmsford, N.Y., died peacefully at home on May 6, 2020. Born on March 10, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Muriel was the daughter of Louis and Beatrice Schneider. On September 18, 1943, she married the love of her life, Murray, a newly minted pilot and 2nd lieutenant in the USAAF, in Dothan, AL. Muriel was a proud and extremely independent person her entire life. She had a passionate love of animals; no animal was to large or small to be cared for. She was honored to be a volunteer at the Westchester County Archives for 27 years until, she finally decided to retire, at age 92. In her early 90s, she was also a breast cancer survivor.
Muriel is survived by her son Craig, his wife Trish, her grandchildren, Melissa O’Halloran and husband Mark, Rachel Reading and her husband Don, Abby and her fiance Patrick Kennedy, and her much loved granddogs Troy, Destiny, Poe, Monk, Sitka and Summit. She was predeceased by her husband Murray and daughter Bella.
Private interment will be held at Sharon Gardens Cemetery, in Valhalla, N.Y. Funeral services are under the direction of Hellman Memorial Chapels, Spring Valley, NY 10977.
