Ronnie Sue Roth
September 20, 1947 – September 4, 2020
Ronnie Sue Roth (September 20, 1947 - September 4, 2020) was a beacon of light and love. Whoever was lucky enough to cross paths with her, Ronnie’s magical grace made their lives better. There was nary a soul who did not benefit from her friendship and counsel. To know her was to love her.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana to Morton and Mollye Penner, she moved up to Yankee territory and raised her family in New City, New York after she married her husband of 25 years, Stuart Roth. For 40 years, Ronnie Sue spread her Tinkerbell magic over everyone she met. With her husband Stuart, she started the Band Parents Booster Club at Clarkstown North High School. She served on committees and as board President of Clarkstown Summer Theater Festival. Her most significant contribution was her 25 year commitment to Coupe Theatre Studio and Rockland Youth Dance Ensemble as Chairman of the Board. She found great joy from seeing young artists thrive and advance, building confidence through music, dance and theatre.
Ronnie attended LSU and left school to work, get married and raise her family. After her beloved Stuart passed, she decided to return to school at Nyack College to complete her Bachelors of Science degree in Organizational Management.
A self-professed workaholic with a passion and penchant for law, Ronnie worked for attorneys her entire adult life. In the last 30 years of her life, Ronnie worked as an executive legal assistant for the law firm Spiegel and Barbato in Bronx, NY. This is where she would develop an extended working family, making an enormous positive impact on each person in the firm. Even in retirement, she couldn’t step away for long, working remotely from her new Houston home until the very end.
Ronnie thrived in a creative environment. Her hobbies included floral design, knitting and needlepoint, and hand-crafting gift items for the people she loved. She surrounded herself with beauty and flair - she loved fringe, glitter, and upon relocating to Houston after her retirement, cowboy hats and boots. She was an avid reader, and devoured biographies about famous historical figures, particularly from American and English descent. Her iTunes library was filled with inspirational music from Barbra Streisand to Elvis to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Hamilton”.
Family was the center of Ronnie Sue’s existence. She is survived by her daughters, Stacey and Melissa, sons-in-law Chris and Mike, grandchildren Michael, Julia, Sophia, Matthew and Ryan, and sisters Cheryl and Judy.

I know RR almost 35 years. My memories of her r sitting by Diane Frankels side every year for Nutcracker. I looked forward to seeing her smiling face every year. Later we reconnected through Staceys dance performances at SVHS. She even attended the county executive awards where Stacey & I we’re both nominated. She was such a great supporter of the arts & will be missed not only by friends & family but all the others who crossed her path. It was an honor to know her❤️
