Roslyn “Roz” Hurwitz, 86, of New City, died on Tuesday, November 1, 2022. She will be remembered as a kind, extraordinarily generous, loving, hardworking woman who was ahead of her times. A force of nature who would do anything for those she loved. After starting her career as a physical therapist, she went on to run nursing homes, most recently Northern Manor in Nanuet. A lifelong volunteer, Roz was active in Jewish causes and her synagogue, often serving in leadership roles. She was also a member of the Ramapo Catskill Library System board. She is survived by her sister Arlene Armstrong; children Barbara, Steven (Kristen), and Sharon; grandchildren Shani (Or), Nadav, Sydney, and Alex; and great-grandchildren Yuval and Shir. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ernie. Memorial Contributions in Mrs. Hurwitz memory may be made to Congregation Shir Shalom or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Funeral services for Roslyn will be held Friday, November 4, 2022, 11:00 AM at Hellman Memorial Chapels, 15 State St, Spring Valley, New York 10977. Interment will take place immediately following services at Jewish Community Center Cemetery, Brick Church Rd & Route 306, New Hempstead, New York 10977.
