

Roslyn Josephs Millman, of Hillcrest, NY, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, November 13, 2016. Roslyn was born on May 11, 1923, in Brooklyn, NY, and moved to Spring Valley, Rockland County, at 3 months old.
She graduated from Spring Valley High School, class of 1941.
Roslyn worked at many jobs, including one of her first jobs at the Garnerville Clothing Factory. She finished her career in the East Ramapo School District, as the secretary at Hempstead School, before retiring after thirty years.
Roslyn was a past Supreme Representative and past Grand Chief of the State of New York for the Knights of Pythian, and was a member for over seventy years. She was a member of the Sunshine Girls during her youth before she became a Pythian.
Roslyn was a member of multiple senior groups in the county such as Forever Young, Rockland Community College Seniors and JCCY Seniors.
Roslyn is pre-deceased by her parents, Abraham and Faye Josephs of Spring Valley, who were best known for Josephs Fish Market, and her husband of 46 years, Harold Millman. She leaves behind two younger sisters, three children, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Her sisters, Shirley Stern, formerly of Spring Valley, lives in Miami, Florida and Marion Bennett Swartzreich, formerly of Rockville Center, Long Island, lives in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Oldest son, Leonard Millman, retired, resides with his wife Anita, in Southampton, NJ, with their three children, Adam, Russell and Farrah. Middle son, Warren Millman, retired, resides in Hillcrest, NY. Youngest son, Lance Millman, current Mayor of Montebello, NY, and his wife Lori, reside in Montebello, NY, with their two children, Tessa and Hara.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at 11:00 AM, at Hellman Memorial Chapels, 15 State Street, Spring Valley, NY 10977
The family will be sitting Shiva at the home of Lance and Lori Millman.
Memorial Contributions can be made in Roslyn’s memory to either the Joan of Arc Temple #144 Pythian Sisters or Congregation Sons of Israel, 80 Williams Avenue, Spring Valley, NY 10977.
