Stu graduated from Pratt Institute and became a Metallurgical Engineer. He served in the Untied States Army, during the Korean War. He was the former president of Sintercast, a division of Chromalloy American Corporation, where he developed many patented metallurgical processes.
In 1956, he married Myrna Lindenberg, and together they had two daughters, Gail and Laurie. Myrna died in 1974, and he became a single dad. In 1976, he married Carol (Snediker), and they just celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary. Stu was a devoted, kind, and generous father, who adored his family. He enjoyed playing bridge and painting, he worked back stage building sets at the local community theater, and he and Carol took many cruises, where they would work as bridge directors. He was involved in his community and advocated for various quality of life improvements, including the recycling program and worked tirelessly to ease traffic on Rt. 59, by eliminating the Thruway toll.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol; his daughters, Gail Tarkan Shube (Eric Shube), and Laurie Tarkan (Andrew Lipetz); stepdaughter, Kathy Abrams; six grand children, and one great grandchild. Stu is predeceased by his step son, Steven Snediker.
