Tobey C. Raush

Tobey Carole Raush passed away on March 5th, 2025 at the age of 81, after a long battle with Parkinsons. Tobey was born on March 19th, 1943 to Belle & William Freed, and grew up in the Bronx, along with her younger siblings Madeline and Bruce.

Tobey met her husband Eddie Raush, who she was married to for 60+ years, at the Makowski’s bungalow colony in the Catskills in 1959 at age 16. They married in 1964 and had 3 boys, Mike, Andrew, and Bobby. Tobey & Eddie moved to Suffern NY in 1973 where they resided for over 50 years until her passing.

Tobey was a wonderful Mom who raised 3 boys and was very involved in their educational, recreational, and extra-curricular activities. Mike and Andrew were developmentally disabled and were part of The Arc of Rockland since the mid-1970’s. The Arc of Rockland was a very integral part of her life, and she was one of the original members of the Women’s Auxiliary Group for The Arc.

After the boys became old enough, Tobey went back to work where she was employed as a teacher’s assistant and office administrator at a special education nursery school in Pearl River for over 25 years.

In her later years, Tobey loved nothing more than being a Grammy to her granddaughter Olivia. She was a tremendously loving grandmother whose eyes lit up every time Olivia was around, or she saw a photo or video of something new Olivia was doing.

Tobey is survived by her husband Edward, her son Andrew, her son Robert and his wife Donna, her granddaughter Olivia, her sister Madeline Ward, and her brother Bruce Freed.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Hellman Memorial Chapels, 15 State Street, Spring Valley, NY 10977. Interment will follow at Congregation Sons of Israel Cemetery, 221 Brick Church Rd, Spring Valley, NY 10977.
