Vera was born in Vienna, Austria. As a young girl, she fled Europe to escape the Holocaust, making an extraordinary journey to Shanghai, China, before eventually coming to the United States.
That resiliency remained a defining part of Vera throughout her life. Strong-willed, determined and exceptionally organized, she persevered through life’s challenges and rarely took no for an answer. Vera worked for many years as a secretary at Rockland Psychiatric Center.
Vera was a world traveler who, along with her husband Bill, explored destinations around the globe. For more than 40 years, Margate and the Jersey Shore also held a special place in their lives.
Vera loved the beach, and she loved to shop — especially with her grandchildren. To them, she was affectionately known as “Oma.”
Vera was predeceased by her beloved husband, William Kremer. She is survived by her son Aron Kremer (wife Mihoko); daughter Audrey Sokol (husband David); cherished grandchildren, Jeremy, (wife Samantha), Stephanie Schweitzer (husband Drew), Ryuta and Noah; and her great-grandchildren, Tye, Harper and Lainey.
