Elizabeth Teena Lecklider, age 73, of Springboro, Ohio passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Kettering Memorial Hospital. Teena was born in Wilmington, DE on January 1, 1950 to the late James and Anna (Pokladowski) Ferri.
Teena was a dedicated and compassionate ICU Nurse who was previously employed at Grandview Hospital and was known to the team and her patients to be the best nurse to have by the bedside. She later obtained a graduate degree in Nursing and utilized her supreme leadership skills to be Southview Hospital's nursing educator. She loved being a nurse, taking care of patients with high acuities and their families when they needed it the most as well as preparing her colleagues to provide the best care possible. Her selfless dedication to her patients inspired many to join her profession, including her youngest daughter, Kelly, who works as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the area. Although her eldest daughter, Shannon, faints at the sight of blood, Teena’s compassion for those needing care is evident in her work as a legislator and an advocate.
Teena worked hard and played hard. She met Jeff playing racquetball and they soon were the team that could not be beaten, both on and off the court. She loved him fiercely (her "Bunski"), would protect him above all else, always in support of his passions. With Jeff and their many friends, she frequented racquetball courts, softball diamonds, and golf courses and traveled extensively. The parties she enthusiastically planned for family and friends were legendary, and often included games, costumes, a crazy theme, and a riddle or two.
And Teena loved hard too. She never missed celebrating a single birthday, holiday, or special occasion with over-the-top fanfare and had the special knack for buying the most perfect gifts for everyone. IYKYK! What she loved the most, however, was spending time with her five grandchildren who called her Mimi, hosting sleepovers, watching Big Brother together and discussing the plot twists, beating them regularly in Parcheesi and Trash, conducting Super Mario Brothers tournaments on the Wii, and organizing epic family vacations. Her favorite pastime was being with the grandkids and their families at her Happy Place, Siesta Key, where she enjoyed sharing her love for the white, sandy beach and God’s most beautiful sunsets.
On the outside, Teena was as strong as steel. Yet on the inside she had a gigantic heart and truly embodied the gift of compassion. Her laugh was infectious. Her love was unending. And while the memories are many, we will never truly recover from her passing.
Teena is survived by her husband of 38 years, Jeffrey A. Lecklider; her children, Shannon Walker (Stephen) Jones and Kelly Walker (John) Welsh; her grandchildren, Jacob, Anna, Jack, Maddie, and Joshua; her sister, Jean Lloyd; her nephews, Joshua (Tamara) Lloyd, Andrew (Jen) Lloyd and Jeremiah (Jessica) Lloyd, and was preceded in death by her nephew, James Phillips.
