Fred L. Denniston, age 86, of Middletown, Ohio earned his Angel Wings on Friday, September 5, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born in Middletown, Ohio on May 28, 1939. He was the only child to the late Frederick M. & Thelma P. Denniston.
Fred worked a long and dedicated career for Armco/AK Steel, and retired after 40+ years of service. He was an alumni of Miami University of Ohio. He faithfully attended the Stratford Heights Church of God in Middletown. He was a member of the Middletown Aeromodelers Club, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction Scottish Rite, Grand Lodge of F. & A.M. of Ohio, Sons of the American Legion, Miami Valley Social Club, Moose Fraternity, Trout Unlimited Club, Arbor Day Foundation, and many other social, service, and charitable organizations.
Fred had a "green thumb" and had beautiful gardens full of tomatoes, grape vines, flowers, and everything in between. Also, he was very artistic and full of creativity. He made ceramics in his kiln, model airplanes, handmade crafts, and painted beautiful works of art.
Fred was a huge fan of college and professional football, as well as Cincinnati Reds baseball games. He enjoyed making unique necklaces out of buckeye nuts to give to fellow OSU football fans.
Fred was devoted to his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In his free time, he loved spending many hours with family and close friends. He took numerous family vacations across the country, camping trips, and trips to Florida with his family and best buddy Bill's family together. When he wasn't enjoying his wife's delicious homemade meals and spending time with family, he enjoyed going out socially to dinner, dancing, and listening to music with his wife along with a group of their close life-long friends.
Fred was athletic and enjoyed golfing, bicycling, basketball, baseball, hunting, fishing, flying model airplanes, as well as several other sports and hobbies. In addition, he loved listening to various genres of music, such as classic rock, country, religious, and classical.
Fred had an amazingly giving heart of gold. He donated to numerous local and national charities, schools, and gave special gifts to children at Sunday school. He was always there to lend a hand to family, friends, neighbors, and anyone who was in need or going through life's challenges.
Fred had a gift for storytelling and touched many lives. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Fred is preceded in death by his beloved wife and the love of his life, Marilyn E. Denniston: and his darling fur baby dog, "Izzi".
