On Wednesday, August 17, 2022, a beloved wife and mother passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Heather Lynn McClintick succumbed to a series of insurmountable medical conditions and passed away at the age of 48. She is survived by her devoted husband, Kristofer McClintick, her twin sons, Parker and Preston, her brother, Donald Christopher Collins (Tracy Collins) and her sister, Dawn Michelle Lochner. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Collins (McCoy) and her father, Donald Collins.
Heather was a 1992 graduate of Kettering Fairmont High School. She attended the University of Cincinnati after high school to purse a degree in Elementary Education to become a teacher, her dream since fourth grade. She eventually transferred to Wright State University when her mother became seriously ill to be closer to her. She graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She earned her master’s degree in Education while working full-time and raising twin boys in 2006. Heather worked in the Kettering school district for the next 20 years, 19 of them as a fourth-grade teacher at Southdale Elementary School.
She met Kris McClintick when they were both in high school. They were together for 34 years, having married on May 22, 1999. In April 2001, they welcomed their pride and joy, twin boys, Parker and Preston. Heather simultaneously took on the challenges of being a professional educator while supporting the demands of Kris’s position as a local government leader and raising twin boys! While her priority was always her family, her passion was teaching. She enjoyed every aspect of the job, particularly student development and watching her students blossom. She was not only their teacher, but their friend, mentor, and on occasion, their confidante. She felt education was more than learning in the classroom as evidenced by her introducing her students to Yoga. Over the years this program became a tradition at Southdale Elementary school.
Heather was never happier than when she was at the beach, sinking her toes in the sand, feeling the ocean breeze, and listening to the crashing waves. While other vacation spots were discussed, the beach
was where they always ended up. Known to their other family members as “the Griswold’s” it is fair to say she never met a cut-out she didn’t enjoy sticking her head (and everyone else’s) through or a crazy sign she felt they must be photographed under. Heather was always up for an adventure, and she was not one for sitting around. Every weekend was packed with fun. Her life was full. However, her greatest joy was rooting on her boys in any of their sports. She loved animals and made homes for several dogs and cats. Heather especially loved taking hikes and walks with Kris and their present dog, Stella, who kept her company on bad days.
No person ever had a larger group of devoted, genuine friends. Heather loved each of her friends and they loved her. And the number of men, women and children who counted themselves among this group never stopped growing. The absence of her brilliant smile and radiant personality, while gone for now, will always be with us and will brighten every minute, every hour, and every day of our lives.
