Helen (referred to by some as “Cookie”; others as "Nana") was born on June 14, 1945 to Olga Martha (Kaszyca) Jackson – mother, and Frank Elery Hurlburt – father – in Pontiac, MI. She graduated from St. Michaels of Pontiac, Michigan in 1963. She chose a career path leveraging her determination and work ethic to excel in the automotive assembly industry. After 33 years of dedicated commitment to Ford Motor Company, she retired on June 1, 2006.
Helen was known by everyone who knew her as a passionate, loving and proud woman, striving to provide the best life she could for her only son, David. Once he graduated from high school, Helen allowed herself to focus on herself and her happiness, finding the love of her life in Larry (name withheld-deceased). Helen enjoyed her remaining years spending time with Larry and their dogs, Rocky and Coco, until Larry's passing in 2012. Afterward, Helen continued to find happiness and joy in watching her grandchildren’s activities and dining with friends she met at her independent living facility in Dayton, OH.
Helen was predeceased by her mother, Olga; her step-father, Hobert; and her brother, Tom. She is survived by her brother, John Bandy (Cathy); son, David (Laurie); and her grandchildren, Hannah Rose Hurlburt (13) and Isaac David Hurlburt (12).
Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in either her name or her granddaughter’s, Hannah.
