Herman Beldem Presley, age 84, of Springboro, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2025. Born on December 24, 1940, in Davenport, Virginia, he was the beloved son of the late Walter Presley and Ruth Presley (née Lester).
Herman proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years active duty, and two years in the reserves, carrying with him a deep sense of duty and honor throughout his life. Following his service, he began a long and dedicated career at Frigidaire and later at General Motors, where he worked for 44 years, retiring as a respected supervisor in the paint department.
Outside of work, Herman found joy and peace in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was known for his sharp sense of style, always dressing impeccably no matter the occasion. More than anything, he was a man devoted to his family—taking a blended family and making it truly one through love, patience, and unwavering commitment.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and the love of his life of 45 years, M. Darlene Presley (Howard); his siblings, Wanda Presley Coffee, Joann Presley Keeton, and Roger Presley; his nieces and nephews, Robert “Randy” Conley, Marsha Conley, and Jason Presley; and his beloved dog, Bandit.
Herman is survived by his daughters, Lynn Presley Harrison (Jeff), Teresa Presley Compton (Scott), Esther Ann Morr, and Debra Hamby (Jim); grandchildren, Kelley Compton South (Hank), Kyle Compton, Blaise Compton, Nicole Compton Hemendinger (Sean), Holly Compton Richards (Jake), Zach Compton (Andrea), Emily Compton Kachnic (Brian), Kiley Harrison Underwood (Dillon), Hailey Harrison Mecham (Porter), Dylan Harrison, Samantha McClain, Simon Bryant, Matt Hamby (Lauren), and Ryan Hamby (Brooke); 30 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Wakefield Presley (Claudette), Arbutus Presley, and Ranee Presley Murphy (Larry); personal and loving companion, Janie Smith; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Herman’s life was one of integrity, hard work, and quiet generosity. He will be remembered for the steadiness of his presence, the warmth of his character, and the many lives he touched along the way.
