Michael Bret Potter, age 67, of Kettering, Ohio passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Bret was born the oldest of seven children to Donald and Patsy Potter (Young) at WPAFB in Fairborn, OH on December 26, 1957. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1976, followed by a short time at Brigham Young University before serving a 2 year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he spoke the Portuguese language, and served and loved the people of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Bret met his wife, Charlene Ward, in 1981. They were married in the Washington, D.C. Temple on July 21, 1982. In 1983 Bret and Charlene had their first child, Ashley. Seventeen months later, they welcomed their second child, Chris. In 1987 they had their third and final child, Steven. They raised their family in Kettering, OH.

Bret had a career dealing with lumber and architecture with Weyerhaeuser. Bret enjoyed his time on a bowling league, volunteering for Kettering Hospital transporting patients and visitors, and the numerous family trips taken to Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. He loved television shows and movies. Among his favorites were "Everybody Loves Raymond", "NCIS", "The Closer", and all the "James Bond" movies. He also enjoyed movies with his granddaughters like "How To Train Your Dragon".

Bret was blessed with a large and loving family. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald.

He is survived by his mother, Patsy, his wife Charlene, his children Ashley Miller (Mike Miller), Chris Potter, and Steven Potter, his siblings Brian (Kathy), Stanley, Benjy, Lisa (Jeff Brown), Scott, and Greg (Jennie), and his granddaughters Payton Miller and Shelby Miller.

Private family only services will be held.
