Robert Morrisey was born in Dayton January 13, 1950, and lived there until the age of 5 when the family moved to Beavercreek in the home his father built. Bob graduated from Beavercreek High School, Class of ’68. His college career was spent at Miami University, Oxford where he and Dave Houle became instant friends, dorm and roommates the rest of their time at Miami even attending several Miami Class Reunions together.
He received his BS in Business from Miami in 1972 and later his MBA from University of Dayton.
He loved sports and tried to play them all. His favorite sport was football and was on the Varsity BHS football team. His freshman year at Miami he was a ‘walk on’ for the Redskins; sophomore year he gave up football for a sport making a comeback in the US…Rugby! He played with the Miami University Rugby Club until graduating. Bob participated in the annual ‘Old Boys’ game whenever they held it. He became a member of the Youngstown Rugby Club in 1974.
Always wanting to be doing something, when he came home from work, he and his furry running partner, ChiChi, would take off for Boardman Park for a jog. A few years later we adopted retired racing greyhounds…Bob thought he could run with them…ha ha!
Bob was a martial artist, achieving the rank of First Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo. Then on to getting certified as a scuba diver. Next, he decided to become a triathlete-swim, bike, run. By this time, he was an AARP member; we travelled to Chicago and 2 trips to Florida for their events. Another adventure, the annual bike trek in the Black Hills of South Dakota to participate in the 3-day Mickelson Trail Ride with his friend Ray Bishop and others.
In 1972 he moved to Youngstown and spent the next 15 years there. While living in Youngstown he was hired by NCR which eventually brought him back to Dayton. At NCR he was a Product Manager until an opportunity came along at Micromedex, eventually retiring from McGraw Hill where he sold medical information/journals to companies such as The Cleveland Clinic.
Bob travelled a lot in his career, but his favorite travels were cruising and trips to Disney World, Hawaii and Italy. His Italian ‘cugini’ loved Bob because he loved to eat and tried everything!
Bob was the third child of William Allen and Freda Mae (Sims) Morrisey, younger brother of Neal Morrisey, all who preceded him in death. He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Jeanne Bucci Morrisey and his daughter Ellyn. He is also survived by his sister Carol Morrisey, two nieces Sandra Morrisey (Ryan) Holway and Sharon Morrisey (Jeremy) Wheeland, a great niece and nephew and many Morrisey cousins and friends, especially his two lifelong friends Richard and Ed Botschner.
Do you realize a digital time piece gives you much more than the time? Think of your birthday, anniversary or a special day…your digital clock will flash that date every day to remind you. Our favorite time always 8:08 which we translated as ‘BOB time’. Now our forever memory.
We want to thank everyone at Fairmont of Washington Township for their care and Hospice of Dayton, Josa, Julie and Theresa who helped getting us through the difficult days. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Hospice or a charity of your choice.
A memorial gathering to remember Bob will be held Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Anderson Funeral Home, 40 North Main Street, Springboro, Ohio 45066.
